1 month checkup

Last Wednesday, Nina went for her 1 month checkup. She weighed in at a nice 6 pounds, 9 ounces and is 19 and a half inches long! The doctor was very pleased with her progress and said she is thriving. She is still small for her age because she was early - in the 5th percentile but the doctor said she will catch up in the next couple of months.

The important thing is she is growing at an excellent rate from her birth weight and height. It's funny, her daddy has guessed her weight to the exact ounce in the last 2 dr's visit! The have a special connection...

Now that she is 1 month old, we've noticed many changes in Nina. She is a lot more alert now than a few weeks ago. She stays awake for an hour or two after eating and has started to coo. She's also getting good at lifting and turning her head when on her tummy and has started to follow things with her eyes, sometimes making eye contact for a few minutes. She also started crying which she never did before. She doesn't cry much, only if she needs to be changed or is hungry and even then, it's 2 big cries and that's it. One funny noise that we think is her "trademark" is she baaaa's like a lamb when she is sleeping. It is the cutest thing - I will post a video of it soon. It seems whenever we try to take a video, she stops!
